Purpose Of Program
You will agree with us that for a deprived community to transform itself, it will require excellent leadership. Right? A development agenda will require leadership that not only understands local context but is aware of external opportunities and equipped with modern principles to mobilise people and resources towards a goal. Most deprived communities seldom have that.
We understand that at WALS Foundation. That’s why our first program in any community is to work with existing local leaders to establish a long-term leadership program for the community to groom a minimum of 10 excellent leaders. Participants are children who live in the community
The long-term leadership program(LLP) program in each community has three components
- Funding of the formal education of participants up to the tertiary level
- Exposing participants to various environments and helping them build new perspectives and social capital
- Leadership training and apprenticeship
We believe that these three aspects will equip participants to lead development agenda in their communities.
